Dr Mercer is a double fellowship trained Orthopaedic surgeon, specifically in shoulder, elbow and hand microvascular.
Dr Mercer has been at the University level 1 Trauma Center for 13 years and takes care of complex upper extremity trauma. She is extremely active in peripheral nerve surgery, both trauma and reconstructive. She was vice chair of research for 10 years. She ran the hand and upper extremity fellowship as associate Director for three years and fellowship Director for seven years.
Dr Mercer is currently active in research and education. She lectures on upper extremity trauma and nerve nationally and internationally. She has been married for 29 years.
Dr Mercer has six wonderful children and in her spare time, she enjoys mountain biking and running and most outdoor activities.
