Kirsten Norrell, MD

Dr. Norrell is an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Florida. She earned her undergraduate degree at St. Bonaventure University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.

Dr. Kirsten Norrell is an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Florida. She earned her undergraduate degree at St. Bonaventure University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then attended medical school at George Washington University, followed by orthopaedic residency at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. After completing a pediatric orthopaedic surgery fellowship at Stanford University, Dr. Norrell has been a faculty member at the University of Florida since 2022.

In addition to caring for children in northern Florida, Dr. Norrell is active in advocacy, mentoring, and global outreach. She serves as the Medical Director of Pediatric Gait Analysis at the University of Florida and participates in quality improvement processes at UF Shands Children's Hospital. She participates in medical outreach in Ecuador yearly and serves on multiple committees, including POSNA Advocacy, Pediatric Orthopaedic Global Outreach Committees, and the RJOS Membership Committee. Her academic interests include hip dysplasia research and pediatric trauma quality improvement.

Our Work

The RJOS Membership Committee focuses on recruitment and retention of members.  The committee develops and advocates for services and resources to meet the needs of our diverse members.

Current Committee Goals include:

  • Focus on retention of members as they progress through their careers – from medical students to Emeritus.
  • Evaluate the demographics of our membership and increase diversity within the organization and leadership.
  • Create feedback systems for members to make suggestions to the organization to enhance offerings for members.
  • Offer outstanding benefits to members in allcategories.
