Eastern Orthopedic Association 55th Annual Meeting

RJOS Collaborates with the EOA at their 55th Annual Meeting. The Annual Meeting provides an excellent educational experience, the opportunity to present papers, a venue to interact with leading authorities in orthopaedics, and for Residents and Fellows, the chance to win one of 30+ monetary awards.
Under the leadership of Dr. Cynthia Emory (Program Chair, EOA 2024) and Dr. Christen Russo (Immediate Past President, RJOS), the EasternOrthopedic Association and the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society collaborated to make EOA's 2024 Annual Meeting more diverse and inclusive. Thoughtful planning for the meeting involved a careful overview of the programming with faculty invitations to specifically include RJOS members, along with topics not covered in the past, including Trailblazing Women in Orthopedics, How to Design a Diverse Residency Program, and Generational Advice for Surgeons. Additionally, RJOS funded a travel award, sponsoring an accepted resident abstract in the realm of DEI. RJOS members attended the meeting at the EOA member rate, even if they were not members. Spouses/significant others of RJOS attendees were also offered free registration for the event, encouraging women to attend the conference and include their families in the trip. The event was a great success; Dr. Emory's efforts to make the meeting more inclusive were clearly evident, and RJOS hopes to collaborate with other societies similarly in the future.
