Physician Wellness Webinar Series: Second Victim Syndrome

The final webinar in this series, titled Second Victim Syndrome, was held on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 from 8:00 to 9:00 pm Central Time. Second victims are healthcare providers who are involved in an unanticipated adverse patient event, medical error, and/or a patient-related injury and become victimized in the sense that the provider is traumatized by the event. Involvement in medical/surgical errors can have a lasting impact on healthcare providers, including lack of concentration, burnout, depression, poor memory, decreased clinical confidence, and impaired work performance. This webinar will discuss second victim syndrome and how to cope with difficult complications and unhappy patients. Julie B. Samora, MD, PhD will moderate the final webinar with MaCalus V. Hogan, MD, MBA and Mary K. Mulcahey, MD serving as faculty.
