RJOS Medical School Chapters

RJOS continues to grow its student membership! Last year, we launched our Student Medical Chapters, and we now have more than 100 chapters nationwide! We love our medical students, and their enthusiasm for RJOS is contagious! This video highlights the students who attended our 2024 annual meeting in full force!

RJOS showcased the research talent of our membership at the 2024 Annual Meeting! The program consisted of podium presentations, poster presentations, as well as an expert panel. Presenting authors for any studies selected as a podium presentation were awarded a scholarship to attend the 2024 RJOS annual meeting. Up to 8 studies were selected for podium presentation.

RJOS is an organization that provides support and incredible opportunities for women medical students and allies interested in pursuing orthopaedic surgery. Membership benefits range from access to mentorship programs to scholarships to attend the annual meetings, as well as access to a broad network of inspiring women around the country.

In 2022, an enterprising group of women realized that medical students could use more ways to get involved in RJOS. So, beginning in 2023, RJOS officially launched medical school chapters nationwide. The medical school chapters are a way for aspiring orthopaedic surgeons to learn about and get involved with RJOS early on, connecting them to the RJOS network and showing them that orthopaedic surgery is a viable path for them.

We hope that the medical school chapters will promote engaging and creative events and offer opportunities to build relationships with others in the RJOS network. Each chapter will report to a regional representative, who will be responsible for regional programming and connecting chapters to one another. Furthermore, there will continue to be national programming, with chances to hear from and connect with female medical students, residents, and faculty from all across the country.

If this sounds like something your community would benefit from, we would love to have you join us! Please see the chapter application link below, and feel free to email us with any questions at rjosmedstudents@gmail.com. We can’t wait to see all the things our chapters will accomplish in this inaugural year.

Sincerely,
Jess Schmerler & Jennie Kunes
