"I am excited and honored to represent RJOS with an awesome committee whose work will help RJOS be fiscally responsible so we can continue to provide the opportunities for our members in terms of education and scholarship as part of our mission."

Dr. Cannada has made it her mission to improve the path for those that follow through her work and leadership roles. She could not do this without the support of her family, her husband, Jeff, daughter Annalise, and her parents, the late John W. Metcalf MD, and her mom, Theresa Metcalf.

Our Work

40th Anniversary Campaign

The Development Committee spearheaded the 2022-2023 RJOS 40th Anniversary Campaign. The campaign was a huge success thanks to our members. We raised $70,000 through the campaign and auction. With support from a generous donor who matched all donations, our total dollars raised was $140,000. The support was overwhelming, and the money will go towards funding scholarships, mentorship programs, educational podcasts, visiting professors, traveling fellowships, medical student chapters, and professional development.

2023-2024 Campaign

The 2023-24 year brings up the sustainability of our mission through your donations and encourages annual giving. We are partnering with industry leaders for support. We aim to create different levels of sponsorship opportunities to be funded by industry, individuals, and critical alliances. Specifically, the development committee is seeking support for essential RJOS programs and initiatives:
  • Webinars/Podcasts/Virtual Education
  • Podcasts
  • Mentoring program for orphan medical students-lab
  • Visiting Professors
  • Annual Meeting special guests
  • RJOS Awards

AAOS IDEA Grants

The AAOS IDEA Grant Program provides resources for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. The RJOS Development Committee was awarded one IDEA grant in 2022, which provided travel grants for 16 Medical students to attend the RJOS Annual Meeting and interact with female orthopaedic surgeons. In 2023, the Development Committee and RJOS will submit three separate IDEA grant applications. (link to PDF attached on the study of grant recipients)
