2024 Rjos annual meeting Keynote speaker

Katie Holloway Bridge

Katie Holloway Bridge is a two-time Paralympic Gold Medalist in the sport of Sitting Volleyball, recent MVP of the Tokyo 2020 Games as team captain, and has been competing for over 17 years.

In college, Ms Holloway Bridge became the first female amputee to play NCAA Division I Basketball, attending Cal State Northridge from 2004-2008.

Ms Holloway Bridge was born with fibular hemimelia and had her foot amputated at Seattle Children’s hospital by Orthopedic Surgeon Vincent Mosca at age two. She remained under Dr. Mosca’s care for her first 20 years and continues to stay in touch to this day because of the impact he has had on her life.

After winning Gold in Rio, she has been a strong advocate for equal pay for Paralympians and people with disabilities. Her efforts contributed to the historic change in the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee’s decision to provide equal bonus money payouts to Paralympians as their Olympic counterparts.

Professionally, Ms Holloway Bridge worked seven years at the Palo Alto VA Healthcare System as a Recreation Therapist and Employee Wellness Coordinator. Her programming supported physician wellness, managing and preventing burnout, as well as working with the healthcare system policies to impact change for all employees.

Ms Holloway Bridge now resides in Palo Alto, CA with her one-year old daughter Claire, and partner Ryan.
