Research interests

Dr. Armstrong's main research interest is related to the biomechanical failures mechanisms of the glenoid component for a total shoulder replacement. She has also published in the areas of quality of patient care and systems-based practice training. She is a co-investigator on an NIH grant that is exploring mechanisms of bone healing and virtual fracture simulation and coaching.

Teaching and educational interests

Dr. Armstrong is actively involved in the education of residents and has been very involved with developing a systems-based education curriculum for residents. She has published on a team-based approach to teach residents elements of quality and safety and was Vice Chair for Quality for the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation before serving as interim department chair.

Clinical interests

Dr. Armstrong is a shoulder and elbow expert and also takes level one trauma call. She sees any pathology related to the shoulder and elbow including fracture care, reconstruction and soft-tissue reconstruction.
